The Sound Of Music soundtrack spent a massive 381 weeks - over 7 years - on the chart. It spent 10 weeks at number 1 in 1965 andreturned to top spot on February 19th 1966 for 10 more weeks.
It spent 13 weeks at number 1 in 1967 in 5 spells.

The first album by The Beatles - Please Please Me was released in April 1963, spending 70 weeks on the chart - 30 of them at number 1.


The Monkees debut album,
The Monkees, reached number 1 on February 4th. It stayed for 7 weeks and spent 36 weeks on the chart. In total it spent 26 weeks at number 1 in 1967 in three spells.


Perhaps the most iconic album of the Sixties,
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles went to number 1 on June 10th and stayed for 23 weeks with a chart run of 149.


With The Beatles became the second chart topping album for The Beatles on December 7th 1963, replacing
Please, Please Me. It stayed at number 1 for 21 weeks and on the chart for 51.


The Beatles third album, A Hard Day's Night reached number 1 on July 25th 1964 and stayed for 21 weeks out of 38 on the chart.

Elvis Presley spent a total of 18 weeks at number 1 in 1962 with another film soundtrack - Blue Hawaii. It stayed on the chart for 65 weeks in all.
